Fleas
Cat and Dog fleas will be found in the same areas similar in appearance, 1/8 inch long, wingless, flattened with piercing-sucking mouth parts, and very well developed legs enabling them to jump vertically 6" up. After each blood meal, females lay 4 to 8 eggs at a time but 400-800 total in her lifespan on the host. Eggs hatch in 10 days depending on temperature, light, and vibrations.
Adult fleas remain on their host (raccoons, rats, dogs, humans, etc.) but are occasionally knocked off by scratching.
Why itch, scratch and be miserable?
